When science experiments do not work...
Elementary teachers get to play many roles. Artist, writer, historian, scientist and so many more. It is great fun when they match up with your natural talents. For good old Mr.Gilson that does not always happen in science haha. Today we had a great time discussing acids and their affect on rocks and minerals. We have a sample of mystery rocks that we have spent time trying to identify based off a series of tests. Today we tested the effects of pouring an acid (vinegar) over top of our minerals. We have a key for the chart so I know how the tests were supposed to turn out. This of course did not happen so we did the test then filled out the chart with the correct information. A few samples were supposed to fizz under the influence of the vinegar. After we poured the vinegar over the rocks nothing really happened...Oh well the kids still had fun predicting what was going to happen and tomorrow we will reveal the mystery rocks :) Wish us luck.
